Zero-waste production
Since our workshop practices zero-waste, we optimise the fabric cutting to strategically suit the specific fabric that we use. Due to handmade nature, the fabric will come to us in different size bales. The sizes stated here are the base size guide. You may receive a cloth that is slightly bigger than stated, but never smaller. This is your gain! The reason for the size difference is to minimise material wastage in production.
The patterns shown are only a sample for illustration purposes. The wrap you receive may not be exactly the same as the preview. The pattern looks different in different cuts of the same cloth. Remember, block printing is a handmade process!
Responsible production - Why wild-harvest?
From the wild jungles of Indonesia, our partners source beeswax responsibly from environmentally conscious wild honey collectors. Responsible harvesting ensures that part of the bee’s nest remains undisturbed, which helps maintain countless generations of healthy bees. The bees will not end up pining for scrunched up honeyless hives, as the harvesting process does not destroy the hives. The bees will be able to simply continue to build their home without needing to look for a new one.
Support ongoing collaborations
When you purchase these wraps, you are supporting a three-way collaboration. We source the hand-made block print fabric bales from craftspeople who maintain the traditional technique of wax-resist batik fabric dye using copper stamps called 'cap'.
The hand-stamped batik is a labour-intensive work of love. The prints are not machine-printed.
We source only ethical wild harvest beeswax to ensure the survival of future generations of wild honeybees. This is important to us as we love bees - they are one of the world's most hardworking and valuable pollinators. All batik wraps are dipped in our proprietary natural beeswax blend.
The handstamped batik cloths are exclusive designs commissioned by BSG. They are handmade in the traditional way.
Psst! We host beeswax wrap DIY workshops or parties for your organisation or friends! Get in touch for more information!
