Our toothbrushes are soft to medium hardness, as recommended by dentists!
100% natural bamboo handles! Plastic cannot biodegrade, and every single bit of plastic ever made still exists in some form today. Conventional plastic toothbrushes use a significant amount of unnecessary plastic that these bamboo toothbrushes can easily help to avoid.
Caring for your toothbrush
Just like bamboo straws, bamboo toothbrushes should be kept in a dry area and not in enclosed toothbrush containers or cups that collect water. With proper care, your bamboo toothbrush will last as long as a regular plastic toothbrush. Dentists recommend replacing your toothbrush at least once every 3 months or when their bristles have frayed.
Disposal or repurposing
The bristles of our brush are nylon. They can be easily removed from the brush handle when you are ready to retire your brush. The bamboo handle can be composted** or reused -- it is a pretty lovely piece of bamboo! Get creative and use it as a tag around the home or for your planter pots.
*Note: Toothbrushes sold online are NOT packaged in boxes as a default to reduce unnecessary packaging. Since we send it directly to you, there is no need to worry about hygiene. Wash before use (of course!) You can choose to pay for packaging if you want.
** In standard home composters, the bamboo toothbrush handle may take a few years to break down. You might find a farm or industrial composting location that accepts contributions. Even if you are unable to compost the handle, you have still made a sustainable choice by choosing bamboo (renewable) over plastic (non renewable).
